Curriculum Update

Weekly Challenges:
The Weekly challenges were a huge success this past week. Many scholars wrote good essays, however, three of them stand above the rest as excellent. I’ll be posting them shortly to share with you. Join me in celebrating Aliyah Gaskins, Amirah Chaplin, and Noelle Edwards who wrote amazing essays. In addition, there are many scholars still editing and revising their essays. The scholars are doing amazing work, please continue to engage and support them.

Science Fair:
The Science fair is quickly approaching. On Wednesday July 29th, we will have our yearly Science Fair project competition. Scholars should be in the midst of completing their projects. Parents, it is important for you to know that this is a requirement for all 5th and 8th graders; those who fail to complete their science fair project will not go on the College trip.

Portfolios:
Please encourage scholars to work on and complete their portfolios. Each scholar should be adding to a portfolio that consists of three academic works; a work that demonstrates mastery; a work that has been revised; and a work that focuses on the Social Justice model. Please talk to your scholars and engage them about their portfolios.
