As we prepare for Summer Academy, much thought is being given to the curriculum, and standards we are teaching the scholars. In addition the curriculum, we are actively seeking out thought provoking opportunities for scholars that will challenge and engage them. The summer presents a great opportunity for us to assist you in propelling scholars into the next calendar school year.
All of this work and preparation is lost, if we do not address our culture. A safe, challenging, and supportive community allows us to accomplish our goals, and provides the scholars with the platform they need to express themselves, and to be heard. With this in mind, I am sharing the following video with all of you. When you get the time, take ten minutes to watch it. It’s a great example of how the greatness and exuberance of a young person “could” be squashed by those around him, but it also speaks to the power of opportunity. I hope you enjoy it.
