Welcome to the New year

Dear Families, I hope your 2013-2014 school year is off to a magnificent start. As we prepare to begin another year at Higher Achievement, I want to take some time to re-engage all of you so that we can move forward as a positive and unified collective group this year. Our last year was a very successful one at Ward 6. In math, 78% of our scholars either maintained an A or B or improved at least one letter grade, and 65% of our scholars maintained an A or B or improved at least one letter grade in literature. This is a tremendous achievement, and representative of the hard work by staff, the support of parents, and communication of school day teachers. Your communication and support in our program is integral to keeping our outcomes high.

As the year approaches I want to encourage all of you to continue to communicate with me openly about challenges you incur with your scholars, or with Higher Achievement. We are a team, and I value each and every one of you; please enlist the support of the staff as you encounter any and all challenges; we are here to support YOU!

Lastly, I want to ask that each of you continue to be engaged with the program; we NEED each of you; to communicate, to donate, to volunteer, to be a liaison with your school, to be on our Parent/Guardian Advisory Committee- to be actively engaged with our center. Our scholars are not ready (yet) to guide themselves, as much as we want them to be. Please continue to be their compass as they navigate this tough time. I look forward to an awesome year that will see our center elect a new ambassador, perform heartfelt literary love poetry, create unforgettable memories, and graduate 20 amazing 8th grade scholars. Here’s to an amazing upcoming year!

Mr. Sam
