Summer Academy Dates

Many of you have inquired about the dates for our upcoming Summer Academy.  I commend you for proactive approach, and will provide all of the key dates below.  Please know that theses dates are subject to change.

1^st day of Summer Academy- Monday, June 30

5 and 6 grade college trip- Tuesday, August 5

7 and 8 grade college trip- Tuesday, August 5-7

Last day of Summer Academy- Grades 5 & 6 will have their final day on Wednesday, August 6

Grades 7 & 8 will end their summer academy upon their return on Thursday, August 7

Week#1 of Summer Academy

Wow!! Ward 6 has had the most AWESOME start to Summer Academy ever! The scholars are all showing a tremendous amount of energy and spirit everyday at Center. In their classes, with their peers, and in their electives, scholars are shining and demonstrating their SPARC. Thank you, parents for communicating when scholars will be out and for making the effort to get them to Center on time each day. We are having fun and off to a great start this summer.

Summer Summary and Thank You!

I have the best job in the world. Each day I get to come to Center and see all of our brilliant scholars motivated and ready to learn. I can hardly believe that the six weeks are over; so much was accomplished and learned that it doesn’t seem possible to have completed in such a short period of time. Together we have created a strong, positive, and loving community that facilitates opportunities and encourages excellence for our scholars.

Thank you parents for an amazing Summer Academy, your collaborative efforts helped to facilitate opportunities for our scholars. It is your SPARC that provides the necessary energy for each of our scholars to shine. Thank you for trusting us to be a collaborative partner in educating your children, and for your continued commitment. Enjoy your time with the scholars and away from Higher Achievement. I look forward to see you all in the fall.

Summer Academy Summary July 27, 2009

Wow, Summer Academy is almost over. The last two weeks have been full of great learning moments and wonderful surprises and successes. Scholars have hosted Ward 6 visitors, participated in an ice cream social, contributed to dynamic conversations in community meeting, and created amazing projects in their classes. As we move towards the last week at Center I am very much looking forward to Olympics of the Mind this upcoming Friday, July 31st. Scholars have created a new chant and will begin work on our banner this week. This week is all about Spirit and finishing the summer with a bang. Thank you parents for making this summer, fun, memorable and productive; all of your support, encouragement and engagement has facilitated much success for our Scholars.

Summer Academy Summary

Summer has gotten off to an amazing start. Thank you parents for communicating with me about the various activities your scholars are participating in and informing me of their schedules. At Center, they have brought a renewed sense of energy and commitment. We have talked a lot about spirit and respect over the first 2 weeks and will begin to focus on Academic Excellence this week. Each day has been challenging and rewarding in facilitating opportunities for our scholars to explore their own SPARC. Please continue to engage your scholars and check in with them about their day at Higher Achievement; ask them what they enjoyed and challenge them to explain what they have learned. Your support and encouragement is key to scholars getting the most out of their time with us.
