College Awareness Week: Next week is college Awareness week. Staff and Mentors will be showing their college pride. Also on Monday, scholars will be doing an Activity that requires them to have a plain white t-shirt. Please send scholars to Center on Monday with a plain white t-shirt they can write on so that they can participate in our activity. Lastly feel free to show your college pride as well and wear your college related paraphernalia.
Center Staff Communication: This week (Wednesday), you should expect to receive an e-mail from your scholar’s Achievement Coach. Please begin to establish a good working relationship with your scholar’s Achievement Coach. These Coaches are the primary support for scholars during homework time, so communicating with them in an open and honest manner will be important to facilitating success for our scholars.
If your scholar is in either Golden or Red, you can expect a phone call to follow-up with you about the successes and/or challenges we are experiencing.
-Khan Academy Pilot: The Khan Academy is an online tutoring program that provides videos, activities, games etc… to assist scholars in Math. While there are videos for all other subjects, the other resources available are specifically for Math. If you missed the Kick-off or need a refresher, instructions for accessing and navigating the Khan Academy can be found on the sidebar of the blog. As a final reminder, all 7th and 8th grade families were asked to register this week and should begin their 1 hour per week supplemental this upcoming week.
